Chair - Department of Economic and Workforce Development Dr. Ken Malone serves as the Director of the
Lott Center and Chair of the Department of Economic and Workforce Development for The University of Southern Mississippi. He leads University driven economic development through the Southern Miss Innovation & Commercialization Park, technology entrepreneurship education, recruiting & starting-up high tech companies and renovating downtown Hattiesburg through the cultural arts. His responsibilities at Southern Miss have also included COO of the Gulf Coast campuses and Director of Business Ventures. Prior to joining Southern Miss, Malone held positions with large specialty chemical companies ranging in responsibility from research, product development, finance, marketing, manufacturing, M&A and business management. He earned his doctorate of philosophy in polymer science from Southern Miss in 1991 and his BS in biochemistry from the University of Miami in 1986.

Cyndi Gaudet
Director of the Jack and Patti Phillips Workplace Learning and Performance Institute (WLPI) and Associate Professor of Workforce Training and Development
Dr. Gaudet directs the new Human Capital Development doctoral program at Southern Miss. She has served as principal investigator for WLPI research projects, including NASA’s National Workforce Education and Training Initiative and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Geospatial Technology Apprenticeship Program. Cyndi has presented professional papers at over 100 regional, national, and international conferences, and her research has been published in journals such as the HRD Quarterly, International Journal of Instructional Media,
NABTE Review, URISA Journal, and the Delta Pi Epsilon Journal.

Judith Giordan, who is currently on detail from the University of Southern Mississippi as a program director for NSF's Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship Program.
Giordan has held executive and leadership positions in R&D and operations spanning a 20+ year career. Currently, Judy is Director at Ocean TOMO, LLC - a full service IP intensive intellectual capital merchant bank and Co- Founder and Managing Director at Aileron Partners - a strategic and human capital services provider to universities and to companies from start-ups to the Fortune 500. Judy is also a member of the Board of Advisors of several start-up companies and universities.
Previous executive and/or corporate officer positions include Co-Founder and Managing Partner 1EXECStreet, Vice President – International Flavors and Fragrances, Inc., Global Corporate Director of Research and Development; Vice-President Worldwide Research and Development for the Pepsi-Cola Company, the global beverage arm of PepsiCo, Inc., and Vice President Research and Development, Henkel Corporation, the North American operating unit of the Henkel Group. |

Director of Economic Development Resource Center
Brian Richard has extensive experience in economic, fiscal and policy research. Brian is currently Director of Regional Analysis of the Trent Lott Center of Excellence for Economic Development and Entrepreneurship at Southern Miss. At the Lott Center, his work concentrates the impacts of economic development projects, local retail and industrial analysis, and research into the state of the southern Mississippi economy. He has also been named Assistant Director for Economic Development at USM’s Katrina Research Center.
